It’s best to first make sure your microphone hardware is set up properly and working. A lot of microphone problems are due to simple connection issues that can be resolved in a couple of minutes.
- First, make sure your microphone or headset is well-plugged into the device. A loose cable might completely prevent your system from detecting the microphone. If you’re using a USB microphone, try connecting it to a different USB port to rule out a faulty or inactive port.
- With separate audio jacks in headsets, ensure that the mic is connected to the right jack. It’s easy to mistakenly connect it to the jack meant for the headphones, thus preventing the mic from functioning. With single-headset jacks, ensure that the device can accommodate this jack or that the appropriate adapter is used.
- If you are using any Bluetooth microphone/headset, make sure it is properly paired and connected to your device. Ensure the input device is selected and the device is not running out of battery.
